Found in pineapple juice and in the lower stems of the pineapple plant, Bromelainhas traditionally been used for medicinal purposes as a potent anti-inflammatory agent. This powerful compound decreases the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins, which may reduce the pain and discomfort associated with injuries and help to facilitate a safer, shorter, and more comfortable post-operative recovery period.
Because of its healing properties, Bromelain has also been used in the treatment of allergies, bronchitis, surgical traumas, asthma, autoimmune diseases, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBS), arthritis/joint pain, cancer, sinus infections, tendonitis, and ACL tears.
